A pillow packing machine is an automated device that utilizes a continuous packaging process. Its core function is the outer film packaging of regular or irregular materials such as blocks, strips, and granules, and it is named for the pillow-like shape of the finished product. Its operation revolves around three core stages: material conveying, film wrapping, and sealing and cutting. The process is continuous and highly automated, making it suitable for large-scale continuous production.
First is the material conveying stage: Materials are orderly fed into the packaging machine via a conveyor belt (or auxiliary devices such as vibratory feeders or sorting trays). A sorting mechanism positions and arranges the materials, ensuring uniform spacing and consistent orientation of individual items, preparing them for subsequent wrapping. Some models are equipped with photoelectric sensors to detect the presence of materials in real time, enabling intelligent control of "no material, no packaging" to prevent film waste.
Next is the film feeding and wrapping stage: The roll of packaging film is unwound and then adjusted to a flat state by guide rollers and tensioning devices. It is then folded into a tubular shape by a forming device (such as a collar-type former). As the materials move along the conveyor belt into the tubular film, the film tightly wraps around the material surface, completing the wrapping process. Simultaneously, the two edges of the film are sealed by a longitudinal sealing mechanism (using heat sealing or cold sealing, depending on the film material), forming a continuous film-wrapped material strip. During this process, a photoelectric tracking system precisely captures the printed markings on the film, ensuring that the packaging pattern is aligned with the material position, improving the aesthetics of the packaging.
Finally, the transverse sealing and cutting stage: The continuous film-wrapped material strip moves to the transverse sealing mechanism. The transverse sealing device seals the ends of the film strip according to the material spacing and preset bag length, forming individual pillow-shaped packaging bags. During the transverse sealing process, coding of information such as date and batch number can be performed simultaneously. Some high-end models support personalized functions such as easy-tear openings and perforated cutting. After transverse sealing, the cutting mechanism cuts the packaging bags individually along the sealing line, and defective packages are automatically rejected. The entire process is centrally controlled by a PLC control system, and parameters such as packaging speed, bag length, and sealing temperature can be set via a touchscreen, ensuring convenient operation and stable precision.
