Product Description
Stand-up pouches that lean on the shelf are almost never the result of a defective pouch supply—they are the result of the bottom gusset being released from the sealing station before the seal zone has cooled below the film’s softening point. A warm gusset that bears product weight immediately after sealing deforms at the fold line, and the deformation sets as the film cools on the discharge conveyor. This machine addresses that failure mode at the discharge interface, not at the filling nozzle.
The sealing station is equipped with water-jacketed cooling bars plumbed to the plant’s chilled water supply, bringing the seal zone down in temperature before the pouch is released. The PLC monitors seal-bar temperature continuously and will not release a pouch if the bar drifts outside the recipe window, rejecting it to a separate lane rather than allowing it to enter the case packer.
For products with high bulk density—frozen fruit, legumes, hardware—a post-fill settling station uses controlled vibration to level the product load before the pouch reaches sealing. An uneven product load pushes against one side of the gusset during cooling, producing the same lean as a warm seal. The settling station is recipe-adjustable for amplitude and duration. The machine accepts flat-bottom and round-bottom formats, and the gusset depth is set through the HMI rather than mechanical shims. This configuration targets buyers whose shelf-presentation complaints originate from gusset deformation rather than seal leaks.
